Perhaps last week as we undertook a self-evaluation of our tenancy of the Lord’s vineyard, we may have ended up feeling a little guilty - with a tinge of despair?...
On 18th August 2012, an Adult Formation Festival Day was held on the premises of Holy Family College, Glenmore.
As 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of Vatican II, it was decided by the Adult Formation Team to highlight some of the issues addressed in the great document ‘Gaudium et Spes’ (The Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World).
The issues highlighted were also in sync with the implementation of the Synod Resolution of 2007 – namely, EVANGELISATION. At present that evangelisation process is concentrating on the parish – with the theme of “FAMILY”.
The four talks given on the day of the festival were:
a) Vatican II – the Dream
b) The Dignity of the Human Person
c) The Nobility of Marriage and Family Life
d) The Church as the Family of God
Over 1100 adults registered to participate on the day and close to that number actually attended. They heard all four talks given in either English or Zulu, and the general consensus at the end of the day was that “all was good”.
