Introduction 

A vocation is a calling, a gift from God through which in a most unique way an individual exercises ministry within the body of the Church. Clergy are called to serve in this way in likeness and conformity to the image and person to Jesus Christ, sacrificing their lives for the spread of the Gospel and the living out of Gospel values in witness to the world around them. They often live counter-cultural lives of simplicity, obedience and celibacy.

Within the Archdiocese of Durban we are blessed to have a number of young men and women who have freely chosen to give their lives after hearing God’s call to the mission of the Church.

If you feel you are called, speak with your local parish priest and he will best be able to help you discern the vocation.
